Sep 3, 2003 So, I've updated the website a bit, but I still don't have phone numbers on there; probably be done tomorrow. http://cub.wsu.edu/wsualpine ***Good news**** There were quite a few new people there tonight, which was a pleasant surprise since we did not advertise it at all! We have a PR rep, Maribeth Fossa, who is required to promote a student club as a class project. She enjoys the outdoor, we were really her only choice. The more members she brings in, the better her grade, and she will then graduate in December. However, if she fails, then we get to keep our PR rep for the whole year. What to do..... what to do....... (j/k) A lot of trips were being planned on, including a lot of interest in Red Rocks for Thanksgiving! See the schedule on the web site for more of the planned, upcoming trips. ***Bad news*** It has already been mentioned in a previous e-mail, but the Alpine Club is no longer allowed to hold a rock climbing class. Too many lawyers got scared. There has been some talk of holding a class through Hyperspud. It would be like the old days when we carpooled to the rocks, and we all had a lot of fun. Since the class was our only source of income, we need to come up with another. A class may not happen this fall, but could readily happen in the Spring. To support the Banff Film festival or bringing professional climbers in, we may just take up donations instead. We could charge real money for T-shirts. Think about some of these or any other methods. ***Next week*** No regular meeting, but rock climbing at Granite point instead. -- Dave Unfortunately what is little recognized is that the most worthwhile scientific books are those in which the author clearly indicates what he does not know; for an author most hurts his readers by concealing difficulties. --Evariste Galois
